Timmins has been home for most of my life. It's where I grew up, raised my family, built my career and spent decades volunteering and working alongside others in the community.
I'm running for Council because I care deeply about the future of Timmins and believe my experience, perspective and approach to leadership can contribute to the decisions ahead. Our community is facing real challenges, but we also have opportunities — and the choices Council makes today will help shape what Timmins looks like for years to come.
I believe residents deserve councillors who are prepared to do the work, listen carefully,
ask questions, work with others and make informed decisions — and who are willing
to be accountable for what comes next.
That's the kind of councillor I will work to be.
More than 25 years of leadership.
Deep experience in social and community services.
Experience from the grassroots to the national level.
Julie's experience spans frontline community services, executive leadership, governance, financial and human resource management, government relations, advocacy and community building.
Much of her career has been spent in the violence-against-women and social-services sector, working with issues including gender-based violence, homelessness and housing instability, poverty, mental health, addictions and anti-human trafficking.
She has worked across sectors and alongside governments, Indigenous partners,
community organizations and residents — experience that has given her a broad
understanding of how organizations, systems and communities connect.
Throughout my career and community involvement, four principles have consistently shaped how I work with others, approach challenges and make decisions. They’re the same principles I would bring to the Council table.
Doing the work, being prepared, asking questions and making thoughtful decisions — including when those decisions are difficult.
Taking responsibility for decisions, following through on commitments and being open about what is working, what isn’t and why.
Working with residents, businesses, community organizations and governments — bringing the right people together, asking questions and working through different perspectives to move important work forward.
Building connections, respecting different experiences and perspectives, and recognizing that stronger communities are built when we work together.
Timmins is facing important decisions about our future.
These are some of the areas I believe will require
thoughtful leadership from the next Council.

Throughout this campaign, I've shared quite a bit about my experience, community involvement and priorities. But I also wanted to take some time to speak directly with folks.
In this first of three videos, I'm sharing a little more about who I am, the work I've been involved in, the relationships I've built and why I'm running for Ward 5.
Timmins is home. It's where I grew up, raised my family, built my career and spent much of my life giving back.
Timmins faces significant challenges, but we also have tremendous opportunities ahead. In my second campaign video, I share my thoughts on housing, homelessness, community safety, infrastructure, economic development and quality of life.
I believe we can acknowledge the very real concerns of residents while respecting the dignity of individuals experiencing homelessness. We can support economic growth while ensuring it benefits our community. And we can pursue new ideas while learning from the work that's already been done. Because having a good idea is one thing. Understanding what it takes to make it happen is another.
Good leadership starts with mutual respect, kindness and a willingness to work together.
In my third and final campaign video, I share the leadership I hope to bring to City Council — grounded in teamwork, recognizing good intentions even when perspectives differ, and moving forward together.
I also talk about informed decision-making, considering both short- and long-term consequences, and honouring the trust residents place in elected officials.
As you consider the candidates, I encourage you to look beyond the campaign. Think about how we've contributed to our community, engaged with others and demonstrated our values over time.
